Amsterdam, the Venice of the North

Amsterdam, the city known well for it's legalized promiscuity and cannabis, but is also one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in the World. I hope to visit again during Spring when the Tulip fields are abloom! Here's my recap below:

Day 1:

*I tried the delicious Stroopwaffel! Highly recommend if you have a sweet tooth! It's like a caramel waffle crisp.

The Red Light District

The Museum of Prostitution was extremely informative and so worth it. It gives you a first hand view into what type of ruthless customers the women deal with. It also answered some questions of why people even get into the industry and how there are many laws and rules now in place to help protect these women and men. I highly recommend, and have heard this museum is WAY better than the Museum of Sex.

Day 2

-Breakfast: The Pancake Bakery

The Modern Contemporary Museum houses works from artists like Banksy and Salvador Dali. They like to showcase art from artists who have their own unique vision.

-Dinner: Sampurna

Amsterdam surprisingly has a large population of people from Indonesia. Most of the locals I talked to recommended trying Indonesian food while in town, and one recommended Sampurna. It was DELICIOUS! It felt like a fancy 5 course meal, that wasn't outrageously priced and that was phenomenal. Highly recommend!

Day 3

-Breakfast: The Last Crumb /De Laatste Kruimel

This place is the definition of charming! I loved breakfast here and I wish I could have gone here every morning. It's a local, homemade, delicious food made in house. They have an assortment of ready to go quiches, pastries, and drinks. They also make amazing sandwiches and bake bread all morning long. It's a wonderful little nook to go in and enjoy breakfast while looking out the windows to watch people bike by.

Definitely a must see. With the worlds' largest collection of his works, it houses about 200 paintings, 400 drawings, and 700 letters by Van Gogh.

-Sites: Night Canal Tour

We took a night canal tour. The city is beautiful when it is all lit up. I highly recommend taking a canal tour, daytime will definitely be just as beautiful as night time. *There's lots of coupons you can find to get discounts for a canal tour. Just look in local maps and stores!

Amsterdam

I LOVED Amsterdam! I cannot wait to come back during Spring when all the tulip fields are in bloom. Any recommendations of your favorite places to visit in Amsterdam?
